Elliot Consulting Services Offers Hurricane Preparedness Seminars for Area Business

ECS PRESIDENT STEVE ELLIOT ANNOUNCES A SERIES OF UPCOMING SEMINARS RELATING TO DISASTER PREPAREDNESS AND BUSINESS CONTINUITY

Tampa , FL , December 15, 2004 . Elliot Consulting Services has announced that a comprehensive awareness seminar series will be introduced prior to hurricane season on disaster preparedness for both businesses and homeowners.

Steve Elliot said, "The ECS Business Survival Solutions presentation starts with a wealth of facts, figures, and caveats about tropical storms that have impacted the Bay Area, with a graphical review of last year's procession of hurricanes, plus statistics about the damage caused by some of the more famous Florida hurricanes from years past. We then demonstrate the financial impact of disasters on businesses, and discuss the need for a survival solution."

This is followed by an explanation of the business continuity planning process, which includes establishing a planning team, doing a thorough vulnerability analysis of a business to assess risks, and design recovery strategies; as well as critical issues relative to information protection, employee needs, communications strategies, and general business survival.

Next, Mr. Elliot helps business owners expand their thinking of vulnerabilities beyond catastrophic disasters like tropical storms and fires, to smaller emergencies such as computer viruses, power outages, and new competitive challenges.

Finally, ECS presents the steps for implementing and testing a business continuity plan, pre- and post-storm actions, and a short discussion of storm surge and wind effects.

The concluding lesson of the ECS seminar: Every business is vulnerable. Do you have a plan to survive?

Steve Elliot will be attending the International Code Council's Hurricane Symposium, to be held February 11-13, 2005, in Tampa. This seminar will focus on the lessons learned from the 2004 hurricane season, and propose sweeping changes to building construction codes.

Mr. Elliot is also scheduled to take part in the 19 th Annual Governor's Hurricane Conference entitled 2004 Hurricane Season: Meeting the Challenge of the 2004 Season , slated for May 9-13, 2005.
